Denstone College shortlisted for Best Practice Network Apprenticeship Award 2026

Denstone College has been shortlisted for a Best Practice Network Apprenticeship Award 2026, following a nomination from one of its apprentices. The shortlisting recognises employers who go the extra mile to support apprentices and make apprenticeships work in practice, day to day.

The nomination highlights Denstone College’s commitment to professional learning and development, and its genuine investment in people. Despite the pace and complexity of a busy boarding school, the College actively prioritises the growth of aspiring teachers, dedicating time, resources and funding to ensure apprentices are supported and able to thrive.

A culture that makes apprenticeships work

Apprenticeships succeed when employers provide consistent guidance, encouragement and structure. Denstone College has been recognised for doing exactly that; the nomination references regular one-to-one meetings and sustained support, even when time is limited and competing priorities are high.

By expanding mentoring and developing key roles, the College continues to build a culture of forward momentum. This approach reflects a clear belief that professional development is not an optional extra, but a core part of delivering high-quality education and strengthening the school community.

Recognising the impact of apprenticeship employers

As part of National Apprenticeship Week celebrations, Best Practice Network is recognising employers whose commitment, time and support enable apprentices to develop confidence, capability and long-term impact in schools and settings.

Denstone College is honoured to be included among the shortlisted employers, and is grateful to the apprentice who made the nomination.
