Denstone College is delighted to announce a new partnership with Sophie Beech (OD), Warwickshire Academy Cricketer, and current player for Worcester Women’s Cricket. Sophie, who recently completed her Upper Sixth Year at Denstone, is now a student at the University of Nottingham, where she continues to pursue her academic and professional cricketing ambitions.
Sophie’s recent selection as a Non-travelling Reserve for the Women’s U19 World Cup 2025 squad is a testament to her dedication and talent. Through this partnership, Sophie will return to Denstone to lead workshops and share her invaluable experience with our pupils. This collaboration not only enriches our sporting programme but also allows Denstone to actively support Sophie’s ongoing professional development as she continues to flourish in her cricketing career.
A Milestone Year for Denstone College
The timing of this partnership is particularly significant, as 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of co-education at Denstone College. Sophie’s journey reflects the progress and achievements of girls’ sport at the school, especially within cricket, and highlights the growing opportunities available to female athletes at Denstone.
Sophie Beech on the Partnership
“I’m really excited to be continuing my relationship with Denstone through this partnership after leaving in 2025. Denstone has played such a vital role in my development, giving me so many opportunities and always being incredibly supportive of my cricket. Being part of the journey of girls’ sport at Denstone, especially girls’ cricket, has meant so much to me. From when I first joined the school to when I left, I saw a huge increase in the number of girls playing cricket, which was amazing to see and to know I played a small part in. With this year marking 50 years since girls were officially educated at Denstone, it feels like an especially exciting time to be starting this partnership. I’m really looking forward to giving back to the school and the girls’ cricket programme and continuing to see it go from strength to strength.”
