We are excited to announce the future plans for Denstone College Preparatory School.
Following an in-depth review of all areas of the school, we have decided to invest in our Early Years offer and relocate the Preparatory School from our current site at Smallwood Manor at the end of the 2020/2021 academic year to a new facility on our Denstone College site to open in September 2021.
This decision is one which has been carefully considered over many years, with the education and wellbeing of all pupils remaining our focus. Denstone College Preparatory School was previously based at Denstone College between the world wars and both governing boards are in agreement that the decision to move back will result in not only a financially stronger school but will widen the opportunities available for our current and future Prep School students.
The relocation aims to provide a seamless transition between Preparatory and Secondary education and will reinforce the Denstone ethos and values, unrivalled academic excellence and superb pastoral care for all. Denstone is known for its three school system that is tailored for different ages and the addition of the Prep School will add to this.
By joining the Denstone College site, the prep students will have access to a wider curriculum and our experienced team of dedicated teaching staff. They will also benefit from the first-class facilities available at our stunning 100-acre home.
All the proceeds from the sale of Smallwood Manor, after associated costs of closing down, will be invested into creating a safe and secure space at Denstone College which works perfectly for primary aged pupils. We are working closely with architects and contractors to ensure that this development will cause minimal disturbance to the rest of the school. We will keep you up to date throughout the year as more plans are confirmed.
