From This Morning to Westminster: Year 8 pupil Audrina takes her hospital food campaign to Parliament

Audrina Hatton-Wright is a cancer survivor. Today she is at the Houses of Parliament, asking the Government to change how hospitals feed their patients.

Year 8 pupil Audrina Hatton-Wright is at the Houses of Parliament today to speak to the Government about her campaign for better hospital food. The visit follows her recent appearance on ITV's This Morning, where she shared her story with her mum, Gemma.

When Audrina was just three, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. She was given the all clear at five, but her time in hospital didn't end there. She also has cyclic vomiting syndrome, and she has spent a lot of time on hospital wards because of it.

Audrina has nothing but praise for the doctors and nurses who looked after her. But one part of hospital life kept letting her down: the food. She knows how much good nutrition matters when you're unwell, so she's calling on the Government to make hospital food healthier and raise standards for all patients.

A vision for fresh, local food

Audrina's ideas go further than better menus. She says: "It is so important for hospitals to work harder not smarter, using fresh seasonal produce."

She would like hospitals to have growing spaces on site, where patients can get involved in planting, looking after and harvesting the food they eat. She also wants culinary students from the local area to help in hospital kitchens. That would give young chefs real experience and bring fresh, home-cooked food to the wards.

Speaking in Parliament takes a lot of courage, especially at 12. Audrina's campaign shows how young people can turn hard experiences into positive action, and how one voice can start a much bigger conversation.
