2021 saw the vast majority of our Upper Sixth leavers achieving their first choice university or course, with 60% of university applicants securing places at Russell Group and Times Top Twenty universities. Undergraduate subjects of choice included Medicine, Law, Engineering, Economics, Modern Languages and History.

A level success is a top priority at the College, and we expect our A*B performance to be in line with that of some of the best all-round schools in the midlands and indeed nationally. However, as an independent school, we also have the opportunity and time to be inventive in our approach to education, and we aim to provide a curriculum experience that offers a wider focus. The timetabled LIFE programme works to encapsulate three key skill areas for our Sixth Form students: financial capability, business and economic understanding and communication skills. The programme includes lectures, seminars and collaborations, integrating with alumni and parent networks and university and careers preparation to develop the skills most prized by employers of the future. The programme runs alongside our A level courses, the EPQ and our many enrichment and extension programmes.

GCSE performance in recent years has also been very pleasing with over half of all entries gaining the top grades of 9, 8 or 7 over the past three years. These grades ensure that our pupils enter their Sixth Form studies with a firm foundation of skills and knowledge across a broad range of subjects. A Denstone all-round education caters for all abilities and our impressive track record for value – added performance at GCSE continues.
